There is no need to remove eights «just in case». The decision is always made after examination and diagnosis.
When is removal really necessary?
✔️ The tooth cannot fully erupt Part of the tooth remains under the gum, bacteria accumulate around it, inflammation (pericoronitis) occurs, pain and an unpleasant odor appear.
✔️ The tooth is not growing correctly If the figure eight is tilted towards an adjacent tooth or lies horizontally, it can damage the root «s» of the figure seven and cause tooth decay.
✔️ There is not enough space in the jaw When a tooth simply has nowhere to cut through, it puts pressure on neighboring teeth and causes discomfort.
✔️ Before orthodontic treatment In some cases, the orthodontist recommends removing wisdom teeth so that they do not interfere with tooth movement or affect the outcome of treatment.
✔️ Caries or tooth decay Due to the difficult-to-reach location, it is sometimes impossible to properly treat figure eights, so removal becomes a more rational solution.
When should you not delete?
If the wisdom tooth: • completely cut through; • positioned correctly; • participates in chewing; • easy to clean; • healthy and does not cause discomfort —
it can last for many years without any problems.
Does it hurt to remove the eight?
Modern removal takes place under effective anesthesia, so the patient does not feel pain during the procedure. For complex removal, the doctor plans the intervention in advance based on the image and gives detailed recommendations for quick recovery.
📍The most important thing is — do not expect severe pain.
Regular preventive examinations and photographs allow you to see in time how wisdom teeth are located and make a decision before complications arise.
In «Dent's Triumph», we always evaluate each case individually and recommend removal only when it is really necessary to maintain the health of the entire oral cavity.
